Absolutely not. We’ve recently found out that the prominent Adobe team is now working hard integrating various VoIP protocols into their Flash Player. Dr. Henry Sinnreich who is the father of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is now a member of the team. Sounds sweet.
The whole affair doesn’t mean Adobe wants to go into rivalry with giants like Skype. Definitely not. But as one of the insiders told us, guys do hope the new feature will broaden the possibilities of the popular Flash Player, making it an everyday application to launch for hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
MySpace and YouTube users deal with Flash everyday. And can you imagine what happens if they have an ability to communicate instantly? Let’s say, to discuss what they’ve just seen or read. We doubt Adobe will soon rule the VoIP world, but making it possible for all Flash Player users to communicate instantly inside the application’s IDE is really a huge step which may lead to great results.
Now the development team is in the process of integrating everything needed into the application. There are lots of various protocols and squeezing them into the software that was definitely developed without such changes in mind is a real challenge. But what is a challenge for such egg-heads they have there in Adobe? And who doubts they will settle up everything quite soon?
