VoIP Market - Giants With… Giants!

There are no doubts that VoIP is one of the most demanded technologies among those introduced during the last years. Such services as Skype and Vonage were able to earn piles of money and then sell themselves to bigger investors. However, like in any other fast-growing market, there is a danger of new big players coming onto the stage. Big companies always come where there’s still some room for profit.

AOL, Google and Microsoft are already active in the development of their new VoIP services. And this is far from being the end. There are still more huge investors to come and therefore the big badaboom to grab the considerable market share is quite ahead waiting for us.

Why is this business so profitable? Well, the VoIP service providers do not deny their running costs are considerably low and they are able to pass some of this additional revenue to create huge discounts for the customers.

Skype and Vonage are the two big names in the VoIP business. While Vonage has just completed the IPO and plans to improve positions on the market gradually, Skype, which is now part of eBay, has recently announced that it will be very aggressive on the market in the next few years to conquer even the bigger share. That is because those who manage Skype understand that the few upcoming years are very important and even crucial. The one who does it right will become a longtime leader.

The already mentioned media giants Google and AOL also have very serious and prospective plans. They are already integrating the VoIP technology into their instant messengers and that is why experts think Vonage and Skype will soon be put under the additional pressure from these two monsters. However, some of them predict that the overall VoIP services market still has room for growth and there is enough place for the new players to come in without serious danger for the existing companies.
